Dissecting D-2 : People

Hey everyoneee✨

Today, we will be starting a new series of posts where we will be dissecting my favorite mixtape “D-2”. Mostly because I think the songs have such deep and beautiful/dark meanings in them that I think everyone should hear but also because it holds a special place in my heart and I just want to share it with y’all.

As y’all can probably tell, music is a huge part of my life; a lot of things I learn comes from the music I listen to. Hence, why I am selective of the people I listen to.

D-2 is a mixtape by one of my favorite artists, Agust D and it has honestly helped me a lot so I thought I’d share with y’all my fav songs from the mixtape and what I thought of them/ the meaning behind them.

The first song is People

I will be showing the English translations together with the original Korean lyrics. These English lyrics were a combo of Google and Genius translations and also my little knowledge on Hangul. One of the reasons I started learning Hangul is because most times we international fans don’t always get to fully experience the feelings the artists go through when they’re writing their songs. A lot of hidden puns are in the songs that translations don’t do justice to so that was kinda of a drive to my learning Korean journey.

The part where he said “Am I a good or bad person?”. There are many ways to judge but at the end of the day, I’m just a person. A lot of times we beat ourselves up when we do things we regret and we feel like “Am I a bad person?” But I’ve learnt to accept my mistakes, my wrongs and realize that at the end of the day, I’m human…I’m just a person and I will make mistakes. That shouldn’t determine whether I’m a good or bad person. I’m just me.

This is also something I found really really interesting and I know I’ve mentioned it several times that I find my thought process very unique. It’s shocking cause literally 3 years ago, for my first ever blog post I talked about this exact same thing and now that I need it, Yoongi reminded me.

I think a lot of people need to actually realize that cause someone is an important part of your life right now doesn’t mean the person is going to be there for the long run. People I used to be “needle and thread” with at the beginning of last year, now we talk once in a week, if we’re lucky but I’ve also gained way more than I’ve lost this past year so understanding that some people are only around for a certain time and purpose will honestly give you more peace of mind than you can imagine.

“So what if you live like that?” “I flow like water flows, at the end there might be something” those words are literally one of the most comforting words I’ve ever heard. What if you just live life as it comes, just go with the flow. Not everything has to be serious, life doesn’t always have to be so serious, you know? Someone giving you that assurance, like you don’t always have to overthink everything; every single action you take or step you take. Just live your life!

Final Thoughts

Overall, this song is like a pat on my back like, “it’s okay. That didn’t work out, then move on. Oh you thought you’d be besties forever but you stopped talking? That’s fine! Someone else will still come”.

My favorite part of the song is “Hmm Hmm Hmm why so serious? Why so serious?”. Like literallyyyy, why are we always so serious??? Let’s just flow like water, live life as it comes, whatever happens happens. I think that’s one way we can live a happy life.

Those are my thoughts and what I learnt from the song. I think y’all should definitely listen to it!
