Hey! Happy New Month!
It’s Ib is back on your reader, feed or wherever you usually read from!
I’m so excited to be back on here. I’ve missed writing and posting. I’ve especially missed reading you guys’ posts so I can’t wait to catch up.
My first semester exams are finally over! I’m grateful to God for how it all went and that I have no bad news to bring to you.
I got in my feelings a lot this past month. I guess it’s starting to kick in now that I’m just one semester away from leaving the university life behind. It has been 7 years guys! I started this blog in my second year, imagine how far we’ve come.
In honor of it being less than 6 months till I become a Bsc. holder, I’d like to share some things I wish I knew before embarking on this journey.
🌸 Priortize God then everything else will make sense
🌸 More cooking in, less eating out
🌸 Quality is better than quantity in every aspect of life
🌸 You are going to make many mistakes that you’ll later regret but it’s part of who you’ll become.
🌸 Do not apologize for being the way you are. It will not be some people’s cup of tea but it’ll definitely be for others
🌸 It is okay to go out and do things on your own. You don’t always have to have a crew with you
🌸 No one knows you like you know yourself, truly. People will have a perception and opinion of you based on their experiences with you so don’t take their words too personally.
🌸 No one really cares about you or judges you, everyone’s got things on their minds
🌸 You’re not not pretty, you just haven’t learnt what works for you.
🌸 Your values are massively impacted by the people you surround yourself with. If you find yourself doing something that isn’t pleasing in your spirit, you need to think twice about your circle.
🌸 A lot of things will not make sense at first but God will reveal it later.
🌸 You are not responsible for other people’s actions but you are responsible for your reaction.
🌸 Literally go to class and take notes.
🌸 It is okay to outgrow people.
🌸 Trust your gut. Everytime I have gone against my gut feeling, it has never worked in my favor.
🌸 Get over your FOMO aka Fear Of Missing Out.
🌸 This is the time to learn everything about yourself in an environment where you’re almost not being told what to do.
🌸 Try to get over your shyness. Talk to strangers, laugh loudly with your friends, crack jokes with the vendors. Live a little louder and leave a mark.
🌸 Be visible. Half the people in my faculty didn’t know I existed up until my third year because I was so incredibly invisible.
🌸 Not everyone who smiles at you has your best interest at heart. Some people are just looking out for themselves.
🌸 In primary and secondary school, you were put in the same environment with people in the same bracket as you, most likely raised in the same kind of homes, watched the same type of shows, had the same kind of privileges. University is the opposite of that. You get to meet different kinds of people from different worlds. So be less judgy and more open minded.
🌸 Don’t just study by yourself all the time. Have your personal study time, but also study with your friends.
🌸 Use the Pomodoro technique to study when you’re studying on your own.
🌸 What you’re not changing, you’re choosing.
One thing I would definitely tell 15 year old me jumping around at the sight of her admission letter is,
Dear pre-uni me, brace yourself. There will be lots of late-night cramming, random friendships, and an alarming amount of instant noodles. But you’ll survive and maybe even thrive. So take a deep breath and enjoy the ride!
Well, that’s my list. Now it’s your turn!
What’s one thing you wish you knew before starting university? And ALSO, one thing you wish you knew before leaving university and entering the real world? (because your girl is low-key scaredddd).
If you enjoyed this post don’t forget to like, follow, share and comment!
As always, thank you so so much for reading! Hope you enjoyed it. Love you! 🫶🏽
