Tips To Having A Productive Day

As someone who isn’t a morning person, it is quite tough to get out of bed everyday and decide to be productive but I’ve realized that how you decide to begin your day can have a big impact on how the day eventuality pans out. That’s why when you’re being cranky in the morning, people say you “woke up on the wrong side of the bed” so in my constant journey to loving, caring and looking out for myself, I have been learning ways to build a better lifestyle day by day.

These are some of the tips that I have incorporated into my daily routine that turn my days around for the better and improve my productivity.

🌸 Lay your bed every morning

I remember when my mum used to nag me about leaving for school while my bed was still messy. Believe me, 11 year old me never thought that 10 years later, I would be a girl obsessed with a laid bed and organized bedroom. Your room really has a big impact on your mental health.

Being in an organized space improves your productivity. Whenever I lay my bed every morning, I feel so good about myself, like I can take on anything in the world.

🌸 Daily Affirmations

I am a strong believer that whatever you speak into yourself or your life is already halfway done because I’ve experienced it firsthand in my daily life. Waking up in the morning and saying positive things to myself has improved my mental health, self confidence, self worth and it also helps to get things done!

I woke up really really early this morning and I had DRAG myself out of bed cause like I said…not a morning person. I was so annoyed that I had to be up at that ridiculous time, I felt sick in my tummy, very lazy, just not great in general, you get my point. I realized that I was unconsciously pulling myself down by having these thoughts so I had to snap myself out of it like, “Hey gurl! I know you don’t want to be up right now. You don’t feel good and that’s okay but we’re going to change that cause sulking is not going to do you any good! You’re alive this morning, that’s a blessing!”

So I put on one of my favorite playlists and hopped into the shower. That completely changed my mood.

🌸 Breakfast

Having breakfast in the morning is another great way to put yourself in a good mood to take on the day.

This past semester, my friend and I cooked way more than we ate out and that’s a great accomplishment for a University of Lagos student 👏🏽 . Anyway, because we cooked often we got to eat homemade breakfast before classes most times and there was a major difference between my attention and productivity in class compared to days that i didn’t have breakfast.

Food fuels your body. Food is great. Do not skip meals.

🌸 Plan Your Day Ahead

For people who tend to be inconsistent or just forgetful like me, it will be good to take notes of the things you need to do a day before or in the morning when you wake up. I use my Notes app a lot, I write everything down, I set reminders ahead because I know the kind of person I am and this has definitely helped in improving my productivity.

These tips have been a huge plus to my lifestyle. And obviously what works for one maybe not work for another but I feel like this would be really helpful to some of you as well.

Great post, Ib!💜
I always make a face when my mom tells me to lay my bed but it definitely feels great when your bed is organized.
I’ve added daily affirmations in my routine and I don’t forget to say good words to myself anymore.
I suck at planning my day ahead so I just do what I feel like at the moment but I’ll try to take notes 👍

I start my day with a hot cup of water or coffee, warming to the body. Prayer as my conservation is essential to my startup. I listen to my podcasts as a way to refresh and uplift. Reading the Scriptures reinforce my thoughts. Blogs, as yours, allows me to visit community friends. Thank you for asking.
