It’s been almost 5 years since I randomly decided to download the wordpress app and start a blog. I did not know any blogger, didn’t have friends who consistently blogged, had no sense of direction, didn’t know where to look for advice. I was just a girl with an imagination and a love for writing.
Over the years, I’ve picked up tips from bloggers I’ve been opportune to follow and I’ve learned a few things on my own as well that has made this journey truly mine.
Sometimes I think about whether I’m qualified enough to share advice or tips on blogging cause I don’t have that big platform yet and I feel like I’m still learning everyday but from time to time, I get emails from people who want to start blogging. They ask for advice and tips and it made me realize that I do actually have things to share that will be extremely helpful to someone who was in my position 4 years ago.
So today I’ve decided to share some apps that I believe EVERY blogger should have. Of course, I do not know it all so I would really love that other bloggers also share the apps that they use, in the comments so we can all help each other!
💟 Writing
Grammarly
Grammarly makes editing easier for me. It corrects my punctuation or spelling errors as I write so I spend less time on that. It also suggests words you could replace your repetitive words with. You do have to pay attention to every suggestion it makes cause it may not always get the context of your words.
ChatGPT
I cannot lie I used to be very passive about anything AI but over the months, I’ve realized it can be a very useful tool depending on how you use it. It should assist you not do all the work for you. I use it when I need to do a bit of research for my posts. Don’t just copy and paste everything it says because people can detect when they’re reading something with no human emotions attached to it. Believe me.
However, AI is amazing and will help you save so much time on research.
💟 Media & Design
This app is the best media platform to get your featured images and nice pictures that will relay your message and also suit the aesthetic of your blog. Honestly, this app isn’t talked about enough on this space. You will not regret using it and it’s free!
Canva
Not everyone is a design guru or has a knack for working with visuals, and even if you do, you might not have the time to sit and design things from scratch like Corel Draw or Nara Smith (iykyk). Canva has so many free templates that you can use to create aesthetically pleasing images for your page.
💟 Planning
Notion
Notion has several features that aids seamless planning. You can create several pages and interlink them which means you can create a page with a calendar and then when you click on the dates, it will take you to the page which will have the full details of the post that is scheduled for that day. It is so impressive.
I personally don’t use it cause I’m so used to drafting and planning in my notes app already but I would recommend this app to everyone, if you don’t already have one that you use.
💟 Brain Dump
Notes app
I will be a notes app girly till the day I die, I fear. The Notes app is more functional than it looks. I always brain dump my thoughts in the app so I can develop them later. I also leave most of my drafts there so my Jetpack app doesn’t get filled up and disorganized. The state of your workspace affects your productivity.
Journal app
For Apple users, this is also a great app to brain dump your thoughts.
I always recommend brain dumping. Our creative minds are constantly subconsciously spinning the wheels and we come up either ideas even at the most random time so you cannot always rely on your memory.
Keep your notes app, or whatever app you choose to use, in a very accessible spot on your home-screen.
These are most of the tools I use to make the blogging process more seamless. They’re of great help to me so please check them out and let me know what you think!
Again, if you have other tools asides these that you think would be of great help to others, please let us know in the comments!
Thank you so much for reading.
Keep having a blessed day! God bless.

Great post, Ib! I’m sure it will be helpful to many.
Grammarly really saves me a lot of time by adding punctuation marks in my posts lol. And I think AI can be used in many ways for blogging, like for me it has helped with coming up with post titles and it also gives good ideas for blog posts, I’ve also used it for getting feedback my blog post once and it was very helpful.
For Canva, I can speak it for a fact that we bloggers love the platform. I started using it to make featured images for my blog posts but now I use it for so many other things as well.
Notes app is dear to my heart. It’s not only good for writing down your ideas asap but also helps when you want to trauma-dump lol.
I loved reading this post! And I hope you’re doing well, my friend.
