One thing about the creative process is that it is not constant highs. Some people get into the creative space thinking, “I’m so imaginative, I’m super creative, I’ll always have something to say”, but that is not always the case. Sis, the only source that can never dry up is the Lord Jesus.
You will have low days. You will experience downtimes which is a tough pill but this is not the time to be hard on yourself. You should embrace the process instead.
Here are a few ways you can embrace your creative lows and get back up in no time.
✨ Change of environment
There are times I’ve realized that it’s not that I’m a bad writer, I just needed to change my scenery and my routine.
Sometimes when things get too repetitive, it doesn’t encourage our minds to think outside the box. A change of scenery can refresh your mind, offer new perspectives and spark new ideas.
Write in a different room or outdoors, at a park or cafe. Rearrange your workspace.
✨ Outsource Inspiration
Inspiration can be found anywhereee. I was literally inspired to write this post because of a friend’s snap I watched. Creativity can be come from being inspired by others.
Read a book, watch a movie, listen to a podcast, engage with content that are similar to your niche.
✨ Take a break
Sometimes, all you need is a break. Your brain also needs to recharge. You might just experiencing a mental fatigue. Creative lows are a natural part of the process.
Take a break and engage in other activities that you enjoy.
✨ Collaboration
One of the best ways to enjoy the creative space is to collaborate with like minded creators. Collaborating with others can lead to a renewed enthusiasm.
I love collaborating with other bloggers on here and I’m always down for it!
✨ Revisit previous works
I know some of us think that our old posts are cringe or not so great and we nitpick our mistakes but looking back at your past works can remind you of how far you’ve come and inspire you to build on previous ideas.
So review some of those drafts you pushed aside or notes that you took but never used, you just might feel a little spark again.
These are just a few ways you can deal with your creative lows. I hope this encourages someone today. It is completely okay to feel like you do not know what to do anymore. It’s a phase and it will pass.
