I had just a week break between my first semester exams and resuming as an intern at a Real Estate firm for the next 6 months.
It was a headache transitioning from the regular student lifestyle to a 9-5 routine in such a short period of time but over the months, it became easier because of a few tips that I picked up along the way.
If you’re newly-hired, looking to start an internship soon or just want to know ways to make your day-to- day life less chaotic, I can almost guarantee that these tips will be super helpful in your routine as well.
❈ Plan your outfits for the week, the weekend before
By Sunday night, I usually have all my outfits for the week ironed and hung in my wardrobe so I don’t have to wake up super early and still be wondering what to wear. Less for my brain to think about by 4am.
❈ Pack your bags the day before
One of the most annoying things that can happen to we ladies, is when we switch bags and realize that we forgot something in the other one. If I planned to switch bags, I made sure to pack my bags the night before.
❈ Meal plan
Most of you reading this are probably average Nigerians who do not experience 24hrs light a day, sometimes even 5hrs light. Well, so am I.
So we definitely can’t meal prep but we can meal plan. I always had a schedule of the meals I would prep that morning or the night before so I didn’t have to wake up early and ponder on what to eat.
❈ Take breaks
Please do not kill yourself, the economy is hard enough. Take breaks! Walk around, go and have a short nap in the lunch room! Scroll on TikTok, if you want. You’re entitled to use your break hour for whatever you want.
❈ Treat yourself
Now I didn’t say spoil yourself o. I know some of you are like me that don’t know how to deprive ourselves from our cravings and some of you are completely opposite! You don’t like to give yourself good things.
Please let’s all find a balance 😗 and treat ourselves once or twice a month for a job well done!
These are the little things I did without fail and they made my life easier during my internship.
Thank you so so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed the post. Let me know what your thoughts are or if you have other tips to share for everyone.
See you same time on Thursday!
