Just like most historical events, Christmas also has it’s own myths and beliefs that were established by people throughout the years.
Today, I’d be sharing three of them that I found out few years ago and I was utterly shocked. I couldn’t believe it
🎄 CHRIST WASN’T BORN ON CHRISTMAS DAY?
Well if that wasn’t at all shocking.
All my childhood I thought, Jesus was born on Christmas Day. Apparently, judging from the events that took place surrounding Jesus’s birth, the angels visiting the shepherd, Mary and Joseph’s visit to Elizabeth, most Bible scholars think Jesus’s birth actually occurred sometime in September.
🎄 SAYING “XMAS” ISN’T WRONG?
I’ve heard a lot of people say shortening Christmas to Xmas is wrong and is disrespectful to Jesus but APPARENTLY Christ means X in Greek. Actually no, X comes a Greek letter “Chi”, which is the first letter of the Greek word “Christos” which is written in Greek as “Χριστός” which is Christ in English. So it’s technically the same thing…right?
🎄 RUDOLPH IS ACTUALLY NOT PART OF SANTA’S REINDEERS?
Turns out my favorite reindeer was just a publicity stunt💔
Rudolph was actually created by an advertising copywriter from Montgomery Ward department store in Chicago. They made money off our childhood.
Rudolph is literally the only reindeer I can named off the bat and he wasn’t even a part of Santa’s sleigh. That’s disappointing
It’s sad that kids right now won’t know they’re being bamboozled till years later… but yeah those are 3 things you probably didn’t know about Christmas
Did you already know about these myths or are you shocked like I was? What facts do you know about Christmas?
